The life of a SARCAN Assistant Lead Hand:
Each and every SARCAN team member is an important part of our team and our community.  As an Assistant Lead Hand, you will be responsible for:
  • Supervising personnel on the plant floor ensuring safe, harmonious, and efficient work practices.
  • Ensuring that all Central Store supplies inventories are maintained (adequate stock, filling and tagging orders, wrapping, etc.).  Completes all necessary documentation for the Stores function.
  • Assisting with shipping and receiving; coordinates the movement of product entering the plant and prepares it for proper transport (sort, shrink wrap, tag, etc.).              
  • Assisting the Processing Foreperson in general maintenance when necessary.
  • Assisting the Processing Manager with employee performance evaluations.
  • Assuming the duties of the Lead Hand in their absence.
  • Attending training and workshops as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What are the skills you must have to perform this role?
To be successful as an Assistant Lead Hand at SARCAN, you will need:
  • Experience in an industrial setting is required. Grade 12 is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of OH&S regulations in an industrial setting is essential.
  • Solid understanding of the operation and maintenance of production equipment is essential.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Exhibit a strong degree of professionalism, while remaining highly personable and approachable in the company of people of all abilities, cultures, and backgrounds. 
  • Exhibits high ethical conduct; acting with integrity, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be committed to teamwork and meeting team goals.
  • Flexibility and the willingness to change priorities and deadlines.
